Pearl multicolor event 2013
Hi guys!!
Saturday October 19th I was at the Pearl Multicolor event! I got a free ticket because I signed up as a blogger: D. So while I was there I wrote a piece about the event, so check it out below!
PEARL is a lifestyle event with an urban celebrity experience that brings together different cultures and is open to lifestyle, music, fashion and beauty lovers. PEARL stands for an experience where you discover your hidden talents.

I was accompanied by my Ghanaian friend Ama! Ama & I agreed to meet at Utrecht Central to walk to the Jaarbeurs together, and so we did. We got in the building, asked for the directions to the PEARL event and we went to the wardrobe and showed our tickets. We first wanted to look for Taren! Because we both were so excited that she was coming and we also watch her videos and we saw her with her gorgeous blonde ‘fro and of course we wanted to take a picture with her.. but unfortunately we couldn’t because we didn’t participate in her workshop (which I didn’t even know of) But hey we had enough time and there were plenty of acts and ‘celebrities’ coming so no worries!
After we got turned down for a picture with Taren, we walked past different kind of stands including My Black Hair, Mizani, Black Opal, House of Rebels, Lady Africa and a lot of other stands that gave workshops about Natural Hair, cosmetics for the coloured skin, Fashion, Hair extensions and also stands that were giving introductions to new products and information about charities. So Ama and I enjoyed the acts of Brace, Gio and others.
But besides that we had the opportunity to see Raymi Sambo working on his persuading skills by hosting a little auction for a good cause. The charity of this weekend was AANEEN. AANEEN focuses on supporting social projects in Suriname and Curaçao. AANEEN works together with different other charities and gives workshops to raise awareness about HIV- and STD- tests and tries to support people who have HIV/AIDS in their environment, but they also make sure that places that are popular among the young adults are provided with a condom vending machine which I think is very important! If you want to read more or know what you can do for AANEEN, visit their website: www.verenigingaaneen.nl. Raymi Sambo had 2 lovely assistants, one of which is Miss Charme representing Amsterdam Zuid-Oost! Well, she looks absolutely gorgeous in her Kente dress.
The thing that I personally loved the most about the event was of course LADY AFRICA!! People who know me, know that I love African inspired EVERYTHING! But mostly clothing and accessories. I loved seeing their fashion show, which I will upload soon on my youtube channel! So be on the look out (AfricanFashion2). Ama and I were sold when we saw the Babatunde umbrella’s @ Lady Africa’s little shop, we asked for information and we really took our time to check out what they had available for us. Last but not least I want to thank PEARL for an amazing event and all the people who made it successful!! Hope to be there next year: D!
Love,
Khady
