Hands off the camera
Today we finally went to the so-called “Nyama Choma paradise” in Milimani road. Well, the meat was really very tasty and well prepared but the service matched that of their hotel services. On a scale of 1 to 10 the services and personnel will rate -7. It was more like hell than a paradise. Nearly all of them looked like they did not want you to be there. They did not even make any effort to disguise it. The funny thing is that it is always a busy place. It has to be the meat for sure. But when next we are in town, we are going to avoid this whole place like a plague.
To those who are used to our daily blogs and pictures from Nairobi, we are having a 2-day rest period. Since Africa Web TV has been in town a week ago, it has been on a tight schedule of work and being constantly on the road and meetings. The pictures and the blogs we’ve brought to you so far are sights and the impressions we are picking op as we pursue most of our objectives in Nairobi. We are happy to report that things are going on well and we are on course toward achieving our set goals.
So yesterday and today we decided to take it easy in order to do some evaluation, had an informal meeting with Mike Wamaya (a classical dance teacher who also teaches ghetto children) and did other light stuff. We kept our hands off the camera. That is tough. But we managed, a bit! Actually the reason we are writing this now is so that those who are aware of our recent saga in Nigeria will not worry too much. If they suddenly don’t read anything from us like it happened in Nigeria after our kidnap people might start getting uneasy!
We are alive and well (and kicking ass!) in Nairobi. Tomorrow (Saturday) is going to be an eventful day in Nairobi. Raila Odinga is coming to town to hold a rally. Raila is the defeated candidate during the last disputed presidential elections in Kenya. There are reports that the atmosphere is tense and some people are even expecting violence. Our regular taxi driver has advised us to stay indoors tomorrow or to be extremely careful if we must go to the city. He himself is going to take the day off he said.
He did not need to have worried. Africa Web TV will be out of Nairobi tomorrow anyway. We are travelling outside of Nairobi to meet very interesting people. We are leaving very early so that we can avoid the whole political circus. This is a trip we are looking forward too. We will keep you abreast of the other developments.
