Africa is not all you see

A short history of myself

INTRO

Hello, my name is Murisa. This being my first blog post, it is only reasonable to give a short history of myself. I will only highlight a few things that I believe to be relevant.

CHILDHOOD

I was born and raised in the coastal part of Africa, where to date is filled with array of cultures which made me who I am. In school I used to be in class filled with people of different religious, social and economic backgrounds. I grew up knowing it is possible to be different from one another and still be able to live peacefully with each other.

As a fifth born in the family of six, I learnt a lot from my older sibling’s examples. Although my biggest influence came from my brother who is nine years older than me. He taught me almost everything I know about love, cool music, how to dress etc. the list is very long.

My childhood experiences prepared me for the present. It opened me to a world of differences and similarities. I learnt to reside among people despite contrasting backgrounds, and to do it with total respect.

LOVE LIFE

As I mentioned earlier my big brother played a big part when it came to my attitude towards love for the opposite sex. I have had a few relationships which have all ended well. I am still in contact with almost all my ex’s except two. I am now happily married with two amazing daughters who really keep me in check. My partner is wonderful, I feel like we were cut out from the same cloth despite us coming from different backgrounds.

CAREER

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to entertain. Up to now, it has been a success to live passionately on my dream. Yet it has been tough to hold on after little feet started running around me but I keep holding on to the last thread. When I started it was actually tougher than now. People had strange perceptions towards artists. Hence it was hard to be taken seriously as entertainers. However the attitudes are changing, people are finally realising if everyone becomes an engineer there will be no one to crack jokes.

EXPECTATIONS

In my future posts, I will write about Africa and everything to do with the continent which includes the people. I promise a well-researched topic with worthy content and food for thought. I am hoping that you will enjoy yourself and travel with me in this journey.

Next month’s topic: Migration
