I don’t have all the answers. But I know where I need to be to start asking the right questions. I also know that in all my travels so far in Europe and Africa, the happiest and proudest I ever felt, was walking on a muddy road in Dzivarasekwa, Zimbabwe. I felt alive on an uneven, dirty piece of earth without asphalt. My decision to go forward by going back was probably but unconsciously made there and then. It’s been 35 years since I joined the rush to find the European Eldorado, but the final phase of my life will be spent repairing and rebuilding the magnificence of the greatest continent of all, Africa! This is the beginning. A decision, yes — but more than that. A commitment. To Africa. To myself. To a future worth building. From the inside. My name is Femi Soewu.
