Former president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki says the coup leaders in West Africa are putting right the wrongs of French neo-colonialism. Thabo Mbeki calls them young men who are trying to regain their country’s autonomy from the treaty of independence from France which gave France control over their countries politically and financially.
Thabo Mbeki also discusses the current war in Eastern Congo and discusses ways to end the crisis.
Thabo Mbeki was having a conversation with students and alumni as the patron of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and chancellor of Unisa. The former President Thabo Mbeki spoke on a variety of other socio-political issues and affairs relating to South Africa, the African continent and the world at large.
