On Sunday 4th of May 2014  at 16:36 hours, the creative director of Africa Web TV, Femi Soewu was kidnapped along with 4 other Dutch nations on the Letugbene river in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.  Africa Web TV was in the Iduwini community to record a follow-up documentary about the plight of the people of the region.

While Femi Soewu and Sunny Ofehe (the leader of the trip) were released after 24 hours, the other 3 Dutch citizens had to endure a week in captivity in the most inhumane conditions. And even though Femi and Sunny were released by the kidnappers, they were later forcibly put in jail by the Nigerian Police whom they had gone to, to report the crime!

This page shows some exclusive images Africa Web TV was able to record before, during & after this horrible, life-changing experience. The Creative Director of Africa Web TV (Femi Soewu) took these pictures and images with the only camera he was able to save and almost paid with his life for it.

PS: Unlike other files in the gallery, the files here are in chronological rather than alphabetical order. This is done to give you a logical sequence of events. This is the way Africa Web TV’s Femi Soewu was an unwilling part of the drama and saw the events as they unfold.
